Lakefront Children's Academy is more than a child care center. We are an educational academy providing solid academic programs, geared toward stimulating the development of skills and communication, providing a growing awareness of sizes, shapes, and colors, cultivating manipulative skills and increasing physical development. Our low student to teacher ratio ensures each child receives individual attention and care!
Our curriculum consists of a sequence of directed activities designed to help children understand certain physical, emotional, and intellectual principles. LCA strives to offer children a foundation for the development of social skills, self confidence, motivation and cognition.
Within a safe environment each child will be stimulated to explore, make choices and develop age appropriate skills which will include a collective balance of active and quiet activities.
Short group activities are planned daily for this age group. Their attention spans are short and we do not want to discourage them. We prefer to build upon their interests and share the joy of uncovering the mechanics of everyday life. Your child will be surrounded with meaningful language to enhance each new experience, experiment with newly acquired abilities and discover that they can make things happen. This increased awareness occurs while the children are enjoying water play, toy riding, shape sorting, block building, kitchen and dramatic play, art, circle time and many other activities.
At this age, children begin to develop special friendships. They will learn to interact with their peers, rather than near their peers. Group activities are extended and academic introduction will begin to take place. Activities are modified according to each child's creativity and self expression. This age group will continue to enjoy many of the same activities as the Jellybeans and build upon the skills they learned in that classroom.
Pre-kindergarten preparation, as well as kindergarten academics
are emphasized at this age level. The teachers prepare lessons
plans geared toward readiness skills and self-expression. The
following areas are promoted: reading and math readiness, art,
science, social studies, computer readiness, language studies and
practical life.
